The D’Urso
Family has owned Pilapalucci for several centuries.
Our most famous
member of the family lived in Toritto in the XVIII century:
her name
was Donna Maria Amalia D’Urso.
Donna Maria established a huge fund, administered later by the Prefect
of Bari,
to provide help to poor
girls.
In her Will, there is the description of Pilapalucci, the estate
she loved most.
The archectural beauty of the Masseria is given by its
singular ancient
a pignon
style.
Near the estate there is a sheepway linked to the
famous
tratturi
network.
